‘The 100’ #94 – Try This

Try This 1_2

A challenge to all you poets and writers out there:

Use the six found words in the top right corner of the art above to create a poem. Not necessarily in this order.

“save, kite, hole, gate, while, spoke.”

The poem doesn’t have to relate to the image, but kudos to you if it does.

Send in your poems as comments so we can all share.

Here is my humble effort:

Save this broken kite,

this fallen angel,

gate and bind its gaping hole

with inky flesh,

surreal whispers of skin

and bandages of words.”

 So spoke

the icy voices

of the winter winds

while torn shreds

of paper wings,

tangled in ribboned string,

thrashed and pummeled

against cold

bare

earth.

‘The 100’ #93 – Tarot Reading

tarot-reading

Afflicted.

Lost in the cloud of unknowing.

Words fogged or missing.

Hidden meanings, unsolved riddles,

outcome uncertain.

The threat of swords summons fear

and a bird’s skull darkens

the clear stars of choice.

Numbers reveal blindness

to the heart’s armor.

Flowing is blocked from the inside,

the river is damned.

Love’s simplicity is tired and tangled

and ghosts veil the light.

But here is the Empress,

birthing The Lovers,

in rivers of beauty.

And here, the Fool,

stepping out into space,

falling in grace once again

with handfuls of hope

and a trembling trust

in the reds of desire

and the blues of a longing

for coming home.

Yielding affects the desired transmutation.

Quiet loving acceptance is the way.

Understanding follows peace.

one time

One Time. 8" x 6". Acrylic and mixed media on panel. (Mix med #9)

one time

in a lifetime

of a thousand years

a prospect of purest

possibility,

an idea of beauty

embracing all,

an arching light

rises bright

on distant horizons

and one time

offers only

one chance

in its hands

to be a part

or be apart,

so he runs

with all of his might

be

through a twilight

of isolated colour

into an ever

narrowing angle

of possibility

until he is down

on his knees,

then prostrate

before the goddess

of one time.

Please You

Please You_2

Please you.

Please me.

Emerging

from the chess game

with Time,

the fall of the cards

and the testosterone

of the mother board

the grim eye never blinks

and never pleases;

the stripped man runs,

but never arrives,

pleasing his desire,

but getting nowhere fast,

and the banner’s warning light

pleases only

low flying dreams.

Please me.

Please you.

Through the beautiful mess

of smouldering

and suspended animation

the totem bird topples

but cannot fly

to anyone

and everything hangs

on the edge of motion,

drawn by nature’s laws

to please you,

to please me

but frozen in eternal stasis;

a clock without hands,

a river of ice

and the solitude

of endless space

beyond the stars.

‘The 100’ #82 – The Infusion of Fluid

infusion

The infusion of fluid

ultimately

cannot sustain the roses,

they are not comic paper blooms

fed by alliterative liquids,

they need sweet rain,

admiring glances

from the wine drinkers

on the patio,

naked heat

and a wandering nose

to embrace

in scarlet scented intensity.

They need bird song

and fat worms,

the living throb

of rich dark earth,

and at least one poet,

who, dizzied by love

is reminded only

of his lover’s mouth,

the burning petals

of her night and

the infusion of fluid.
