In Just-
spring when the world is mud-
luscious the little
lame balloonman
whistles far and wee
and eddieandbill come
running from marbles and
piracies and it’s
spring
when the world is puddle-wonderful
the queer
old balloonman whistles
far and wee
and bettyandisbel come dancing
from hop-scotch and jump-rope and
it’s
spring
and
the
goat-footed
balloonMan whistles
far
and
wee

I didn’t know this poem, and love it! Your “Rite of Spring” is absolutely gorgeous, John. It’s spectacular! It’s so beautiful in this small, computer-sized window, I can only imagine it to be something very special up close. Great art and poem pairing!

I’m so happy to turn you on to e.e.cummings Debra. He and T.S. Eliot were the first poets in my life and inspired me to try my hand. And thank you so much for your kind words about my painting… means a lot to me…

Love your painting John and although we are entering Autumn I believe Spring is a State of mind so we can celebrate it here! 🙂

Yes, I was thinking about you ‘down under’ and all the other lands where it is not spring as here. And yet, as you say, it can also be a state of mind. Also I think a metaphor, a symbol and maybe a simple looking forward to when spring actually will arrive…Meanwhile, thank you Robert and I wish you a radiant and gorgeous Autumn 🙂
