creativity:
placing this here and that there,
adding colour
or not,
mezcal, moodling,
miles davis,
looking through squinted eyes,
listening to the surface,
gluing, scraping,
pacing, pondering,
placing that there and this here,
layering, leaving,
returning, ruminating,
touching up, tuning down,
moodling more mezcal,
free falling,
asking what if,
adding, eliminating,
destroying, building,
adjusting,
looking again,
click, click,
done, done
and done.

‘The 100′ series was initiated by my 100th Post in April 2012. As text and images are the essence of my blog my intention is to present 100 pieces of text based art from historical and contemporary artists and from my own hand. To view the series to date click on ‘The 100’ in my Category Menu.
Hi John,
it always amazes me how creative you are! This poem makes it sound like creativity is like making soup 🙂 Your art is good soup!

Thanks Ina – believe me, making soup is much, much easier but making art is more nutritious despite its challenges…

Oh, yes! …that beautiful procedure and then: “done, done and done” Sometimes we’re like little kids with eyes wide open in amazement while playing with fire! And look at the outcome… brilliant, John!

I really like this; great imagery and picture into your life. I like that your process includes space to experiment without being afraid to take away.

I have a button that says, ‘Fear No Art’ and I apply this also to the act of Art…the creative process doesn’t work for me unless I feel completely free to make, and keep on making changes until the work says, “Done”. Thank you Nicole for taking the time…
